Growing up on on a farm, I was exposed to hands-on work from an early age. My love of tinkering, building, fixing, and destroying all started here. Farm maintenance requires extensive use of heavy machinery, and that requires a working knowledge of that machinery. We always did our best to make things works work, even if the solution was occasionally a little unorthodox; working with limited resources on hand (and sometimes in harsh conditions), my creativity in problem solving and mechanical design and maintenance was pushed to extremes.
I have grown to love mechanical engineering, because the impact of what is built can immediately be seen. There is nothing more rewarding to me than taking an interesting idea and making it a reality.
As a designer, I aspire to have positive impact with my unique perspective--to invent and innovate solutions that are elegant, functional, and intrinsically usable by design.
